【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcoversstructuralclayload-bearingfacingtileandfacingbrickandother"solidmasonryunits"madefromclay,shale,fire-clay,ormixturesthereof,withorwithouttheadditionofgrogorothermixtures,havingafinishconsistingofaceramicglazefusedtothebodyatabove1500F(655C)makingtheminseparable,excludingnaturalsalt-glazedware.Twogrades,basedonpermissiblevariationinfacedimensions,andtwotypesarecovered,asfollows:1.1.1GradeS(select),forusewithcomparativelynarrowmortarjoints.1.1.2GradeSS(selectsizedorgroundedge),forusewherevariationoffacedimensionmustbeverysmall.1.1.3TypeI(single-facedunits),forgeneralusewhereonlyonefinishedfacewillbeexposed.1.1.4TypeII(two-facedunits),forusewheretwooppositefinishedfaceswillbeexposed.1.2Thepropertyrequirementsofthisspecificationapplyatthetimeofpurchase.Theuseofresultsfromtestingofbrickandtileextractedfrommasonrystructuresfordeterminingconformanceornonconformancetothepropertyrequirements(Section5)ofthisstandardisbeyondthescopeofthisspecification.1.3Brickandtilecoveredbythisspecificationaremanufacturedfromclay,shale,orsimilarnaturallyoccurringsubstancesandsubjectedtoaheattreatmentatelevatedtemperatures(firing).Theheattreatmentmustdevelopsufficientfiredbondbetweentheparticulateconstituentstoprovidethestrengthrequirementsofthisspecification.(SeefiringandfiredbondinTerminologyC43.)1.4Thetextofthisstandardreferencesnotesandfootnoteswhichprovideexplanatorymaterial.Thesenotesandfootnotes(excludingthoseintablesandfigures)shallnotbeconsideredasrequirementsofthestandard.1.5Thefollowingprecautionarycaveatpertainsonlytothetestportion(Section16)ofthisspecification.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
